Transfer Deadline Day Activity at Stark’s Park

Friday August 31st 2012

22.30hrs update…

Within the last hour, Raith Rovers have completed two player deals on the final day of the open transfer window. After last night’s heroics at Liverpool, Heart of Midlothian FC this afternoon agreed terms that see one player leaving Stark’s Park and another arriving for a second stint at the club.

Liam Gordon, the 16 year old midfielder who made the step up from our Academy to sign professional terms only days before John McGlynn’s departure to Tynecastle, now follows our former manager over to the maroon side of Edinburgh. Everyone at Stark’s Park wishes the likeable youngster all the best in his future career.

Meanwhile, manager Grant Murray has moved to strengthen the squad with popular attacking midfielder David Smith returning to Kirkcaldy on a temporary transfer through to 27 January 2013. David was one of three loan players who featured prominently in the first team during a 3 month spell last season, scoring once in eight first team appearances. David is available for selection in tomorrow’s Fife derby against Dunfermline Athletic.

Following the goal-less draw three days earlier Rovers lose 0-2 to Falkirk in the Scottish Cup semi-final replay at Tynecastle. A Jimmy Wardhaugh free kick in the first minute set the tone of the replay but it took until his second goal in the 73rd minute to seal the victory.
