Raith Rovers are delighted to have secured the services of wide man Nathan Flanagan on an extended contract beyond January 2019.

21 year old Nathan signed for Rovers on the same day as top scorer Kevin Nisbet (initially on a deal until early January 2019), after being released by newly promoted Premiership side St Mirren. He started out in the Hearts youth system before moving to Paisley and gained experience of first team football in Leagues 1 and 2 while on loan to Annan Athletic, East Fife and Elgin City.

This season, Nathan has benefitted from a sustained run of first team action that has seen him score 3 goals in 17 games (2 of them sub appearances) for John McGlynn’s Rovers side. Additionally, he has also provided 7 assists from wide areas for his teammates.

Speaking to www.raithrovers.net earlier today, Nathan said: “I’m delighted to have extended my contract with Raith Rovers; it’s good to have my future settled. I’m enjoying my football here and hoping I can keep improving and performing for the team. I’m really looking forward to the rest of the season”

Rovers manager John McGlynn added: “I am delighted that Nathan Flanagan had decided to extend his contract with the club, Nathan has done exceptionally well during my time at the club and his contract extension is a reward for all his hard work.

He’s an exciting player who has fans on the edge of their seats whenever he gets on the ball, he has been listening and learning which is very pleasing for myself and Paul Smith and we look forward to working with Nathan as he and the club continue our push for promotion.

Chairman Bill Clark was delighted with the players commitment to the club and said: “I am delighted that we have been able to secure the services of Nathan beyond January 2019.

He has settled in well at Stark’s Park and adds skill and speed in wide positions which have benefited our strikers in recent matches. He also has an eye for goal and will be a valuable addition to our firepower as the season unfolds.

With his immediate future now settled I look forward to him playing with increased confidence as an important member of the first team squad. Welcome aboard Nathan! “
