Goalless draw at Starks Park
The weather conditions were dreadful at Starks Park, both Raith and Partick seemed to struggle due to the winds. Both teams started very slow not creating many chances if any early on, Partick did however make a half chance with a shot from the edge of the penalty box just going narrowly past the post. It took until just past the half way point of the first half for Raith to create the first clear cut chance after some nice combination passes between Scott Brown, Stanton, Turner, and finally Mullin, which put in a fantastic cross onto the head of Rudden, but he couldn’t redirect it enough to beat the goalkeeper.
Partick created the next big chance of the game, just a few minutes from half time, with a shot from distance that took a big deflection off Watson’s head diverting it onto the cross bar. HT 0-0.
SUB RAITH TURNER OFF EASTON ON
Partick begun the second half looking the more creative of the two teams, creating a chance from just inside the penalty box forcing Dabrowski into a good save down to his left hand side.
59th minute SUB RAITH RUDDEN OFF VAUGHAN ON
Vaughan almost made an instant impact after heading the ball wide of the goal from a Mullin cross. Raith begun to obtain control and confidence, making more and better chances. Raith even had a big penalty claim that was not given, after Easton claimed to have been fouled but the referee was adamant that the defender got the ball.
Partick in the dying moments of the game were awarded a freekick from around 23 yards, Alston stepped up to take it, and using the knuckle ball technique he smashed the crossbar. FT 0-0
