Line Up

Preview

After easing past Cliftonville to reach the fourth round of the SPFL Trust Trophy on Saturday, Raith Rovers will be hoping to keep their good form going, when they return to Championship action against Inverness Caledonian Thistle at Stark's Park.

However, while Raith Rovers will start as favourites for the match, that seems to count little in any fixture against The Caley Jags, with Rovers going an astonishing 32 games without a win in 90 minutes against the Highland outfit.

The two sides go into this one in contrasting fortunes though, with Inverness bottom of the table with just one point from four games, albeit that was picked up against Dunfermline in their most recent league outing, thanks to a 1-1 draw with Dunfermline.

They do go into this one on the back of another defeat however, after a disappointing 4-2 loss to a dominant Arbroath at Gayfield last Saturday.

Rovers 3-0 win against the Northern Irish side on Saturday means they've now just lost once 10 games this season, and are currently second in the table behind Dundee United on goal difference, albeit a win for Partick Thistle on Friday evening against Ayr United, would see Rovers slip to third.

Saturday's match referee will be Chris Graham.

Head-To-Head Record:

Raith Rovers Wins: 5

Inverness Caledonian Thistle Wins: 23

Draws: 10

Reports

Late Gullan goal ends 23 Inverness unbeaten record v Raith.

Raith started very strongly at a sunny Starks Park, looking to put the pressure on Inverness, and created a big chance early on, with Lewis Vaughan's excellent free kick delivery finding Euan Murray at the back post, but he couldn’t get a strong connection, however he did win a corner as Ridgers pushed the ball behind.

Inverness started growing into the game after around 10 minutes, creating multiple chances in a short period of time that Kevin Dabrowski expertly saved each time, the best of the saves being with his right foot after a header at the back post that looked destined to go in.

Inverness did manage to beat Dabrowski shortly before half time with the Inverness player putting the ball into the back of the net, however it was quickly ruled offside. HT 0-0.

It took a while for anything to happen in the second half, but Raith created a half chance with a Scott Brown volley from the edge of the box only just missing the top corner. Raith soon had a very strong penalty claim when it looked like Devine had pulled Jack Hamilton out the air as he tried to get on the end of a Ross Millen cross, however the referee did not give the penalty.

Jamie Gullan came on in the 85th minute replacing the man of the match Sam Stanton, and Gullan had a chance instantly after coming on from a freekick, but his effort just never dipped quick enough.

Only 2 minutes later Jamie Gullan almost broke the net with an explosive finish on his less preferred left foot; after faking a shot with his right he quickly chopped onto his left foot and then hammered the ball past a stretching Ridgers. GOAL RAITH 1-0!!
