    Match Preview

After the disappointment of last Friday’s 3-2 defeat to Arbroath, Raith Rovers have the chance to get back to winning ways this Saturday, when they welcome Dunfermline to Stark’s Park.

That defeat kept Raith second in the table, and they’re now four points behind leaders Dundee United, albeit having played a game fewer.

Dunfermline go into this one on the back of a 2-0 home loss to Airdrie, a result which saw the Diamonds leapfrog James McPake’s side in the table, with the Pars now residing sixth.

This will be the sixth, and barring any playoff games between the two, final Fife derby of the season, with Raith yet to taste defeat over 90 minutes in any of the previous meetings.

The first was way back in July, with the season kicking off with a League Cup group game between the two, as Dunfermline made off with the bonus point, prevailing on penalties after a 1-1 draw.

Lewis McCann had given the Pars the lead, but Dylan Easton’s equaliser ensured the game went to spot kicks.

The next two encounters both ended 1-0 to Rovers, with both the slender wins coming thanks to goals from Sam Stanton, but the Scottish Cup clash at East End Park was far more emphatic, as goals from Jack Hamilton, Stanton again and Lewis Vaughan sealing a 3-0 win that could have been far more on the night.

The last meeting between the two was back to being tight again, with Daniel O’Reilly’s brace, either side of a Ben Summers equaliser, earning Rovers a 2-1 win.

If Rovers can win this one, it’ll be the first time they’ve ever recorded five successive wins in the fixture.

Saturday afternoon’s match referee will be Craig Napier.

Head-To-Head Record:

Raith Rovers Wins: 47

Dunfermline Athletic Wins: 52

Draws: 31
