Raith Rovers Football Club are delighted to announce that experienced centre-back Lee Ashcroft has today joined Raith Rovers on loan from SPFL Premiership side Dundee, in a deal to the end of the current season.

A number of SPFL Championship clubs were keen to secure Lee’s services, but it was Rovers manager Ian Murray who won the race for the signature of the defender and said to www.raithrovers.net earlier today “This is another good signing to help our squad. Lee is a player we identified a while ago and finally have secured his services.

He will add more experience and competition into the squad going into the latter part of the season.

Lee is an out and out defender and good in both boxes. Again, I’d like to thank the Raith Rovers Board of Directors for their continued backing in the loan market and Dundee FC for their part in the loan negotiations.

Myself and the rest of the coaching staff look forward to working with Lee for the next few months”.

Aged 30, Lee learnt his football trade at Barrhead Boys Club and Hillwood Boys Club before breaking into the professional ranks as a 17-year-old, signing for Kilmarnock in June 2011.

He made his professional debut as a 19-year-old in the SPFL Premiership for Killie at the end of the 2012/13 season.

In total, Lee played over 70 matches for Killie before signing for Dunfermline Athletic in 2016 (playing there for 4 seasons and making over 160 appearances for The Pars) in the SPFL Championship.

2020 saw Lee sign for Dundee in the SPFL Championship, where he helped The Dee gain promotion to the SPFL Premiership, eliminating The Rovers in the Playoffs at the end of our first season back in the second tier in the process.

Welcome Aboard Lee!
