Ian Murray: “Easton capture is a coup for us”

Rovers chief Ian Murray insists that securing the signature of Dylan Easton from former club Airdrieonians is a massive coup for the club ahead of the new campaign.

The arrival of the 28-year-old Midfielder marked the start of a new era on Pratt Street after Murray’s arrival on Tuesday as he quickly made his move to bring The Diamonds’ talisman to Fife, something that Easton himself insists was a ‘no brainer.’

The Rovers boss beat off a swathe of competition for the League One PFA Player of The Year and believes that he has put down a statement of intent after landing his man early doors.

He told RaithRovers.net:

“I’m extremely delighted to get my first signing done and dusted early doors, especially in the shape of Dylan.

“I obviously knew him from my time at Airdrie last season, but I also had him at Dumbarton as a kid.

“He needed to go away for a little while and find his feet, not just in Football, but in life.

“He always had that undoubted ability and I could see that from playing against him multiple times, he’s always been a dangerous player.

“I got a right good look at him last season and what exactly he could bring to my team, let alone any Football team, so to have him in my team again and on an extended deal at the Rovers is a fantastic start for us here.

“To be able to not only get Airdrie’s Player of The Year, but also the League One Player of The Year is a fantastic coup for the club.”

Murray believes that Easton arrives at the club at the best possible time as he enters his peak fitness as well as most importantly, his peak form.

The Rovers Supremo believes that he has managed to capture a real significant asset as he predicts an impact from his man that will get fans off their seats in adoration.

He continued:

“People progress at different rates and Dylan is in a position now where he’s hitting his peak form and fitness.

“Dylan’s fitness levels are frightening at the minute, he’ll know it as well because we show it through the stats in training.

“The numbers that he produces along with the quality that he does it with is exceptionally hard to find, so to have him here as our first signing is really exciting.

“He’s a player that fans will be excited by and we shouldn’t put too much pressure on him early doors because he will naturally have a couple of off games where things don’t quite work, but the majority of the time when he gets the ball he’s always causing problems.

“Couple that with his work rate off of the ball, that means that the players will love playing alongside him.

“He never hides from the ball, even when he could be having the worst game in the world and we’ve just got to stick with him because i know just what he can do and that it can be him who produces that moment of magic when it’s needed most.”
