Dylan Easton checks in to Stark’s Park

Raith Rovers are thrilled to announce the arrival of League One Player of the Year, Dylan Easton on a two-year-deal upon the expiry of his contract with Airdrieonians.

The 28-year-old has swiftly opted to make the move from North Lanarkshire to Fife, following in the footsteps of Ian Murray who was unveiled as the Rovers’ new First-Team Manager on Tuesday and the move will become concrete upon the expiry of his deal.

Easton arrives at Stark’s Park a wanted man after his exploits in League One last season, where he played a vital role in Airdrie’s run to the Play-Off Final, finding the back of the net eight times as well as assisting 12 more as he swept up a the PFA Player of The Year Awards winning the ultimate recognition from teammates and opponents alike.

The Playmaker can play off the left hand side or anywhere in the middle of the park and will had some added flair to an already exciting forward roster at the disposal of the new Rovers No.1.

Dylan started his career at the prestigious Hutchison Vale Boys Club before catching the eyes of the top table at Livingston.

A six-month spell at Berwick Rangers followed before the the Premiership came a calling, with St Johnstone offering the then 18-year-old a three-year contract.

A loan spell at Dumbarton is where the connection between both Easton and Murray began before the Midfielder enjoyed successful spells at Forfar, Clyde and Kelty Hearts, where he won promotion to League Two with Barry Ferguson’s side, before coming alive at the Excelsior Stadium last season.

Rovers Manager, Ian Murray spoke exclusively to RaithRovers.net, saying:

“I’m extremely delighted to get my first signing done and dusted early doors, especially in the shape of Dylan.

“I obviously knew him from my time at Airdrie last season, but I also had him at Dumbarton as a kid.

“He needed to go away for a little while and find his feet, not just in Football, but in life.

“He always had that undoubted ability and I could see that from playing against him multiple times, he’s always been a dangerous player.

“I got a right good look at him last season and what exactly he could bring to my team, let alone any Football team, so to have him in my team again and on an extended deal at the Rovers is a fantastic start for us here.

A delighted Easton added:

“I’m delighted to get it over the line, it’s been a mad couple of days to be honest since the Play-Off Final against Queens Park.

“The close season always gets interesting when you’re out of contract but i can’t wait to get started here at Raith Rovers.

“It’s been a very good year for me personally, picking up PFA Player Of The Year as well as Airdrie’s PoTY.

“It was something special, and it was nice to get the media recognition as well but if I can bring my performances from last season into my time here at the Rovers then I can only improve which is only a good thing.”
