Director of Football Appointed

Friday December 26th 2014

Raith Rovers FC is delighted to announce the appointment of Maurice Malpas as Director of Football, with immediate effect.

Welcoming the former Dundee United and Scotland stalwart to the Stark’s Park set up, manager Grant Murray commented, “It’s terrific that we’ve been able to bring in someone of Maurice’s calibre, and Laurie and I look forward to working closely with him.”

Maurice Malpas (52) made 830 appearances for Dundee United and won 55 full Scottish caps during his playing career, leading to him being inducted into the Scotland Hall of Fame. Since his playing career came to an end he has had spells at Motherwell and Swindon Town as manager, and Dundee United, Motherwell, Inverness and Hibernian as assistant manager, leaving the Easter Road club last summer.

Brian Potter becomes a Rovers legend by coming on as a substitute for goalkeeper Scott Thomson who was harshly sent-off in normal time in the League Cup semi-final against Airdrie at McDairmid Park. Although Potter conceded an equaliser to the late Stevie Cooper
