Raith Rovers Community Foundation, Rovers Down South, and Raith Rovers Football Club Unite for “The Community Belong” Project

Raith Rovers Community Foundation is proud to announce an exciting new project, “The Community Belong”, delivered in partnership with Rovers Down South and Raith Rovers Football Club. The project aims to make a positive impact by supporting vulnerable families and engaging young people in the local community.

“The Community Belong” seeks to address the challenges faced by vulnerable families by providing them with free access to Raith Rovers FC matches. To ensure an enjoyable experience for these families, the project also includes complementary food and drink during the games. This initiative will not only offer entertainment but also create a sense of belonging and togetherness within the community.

In addition to supporting families, “The Community Belong” focuses on engaging young people through an extension of Raith Rovers Football Club’s free U12 season ticket campaign. Young individuals will now have the opportunity to attend matches with their peers and be supervised by dedicated Foundation volunteers. By fostering their interest in football and promoting positive role models, this initiative aims to inspire and motivate young people to be active members of the community.

A significant driving force behind the project is the generous support of Rovers Down South, who have pledged upwards of £3,000 of funding to ensure its successful implementation. Committee Member, Jeff Macdonald, said “Young fans are the future of Raith Rovers. So, we are delighted to be working with the Community Foundation and the club to encourage as many young fans as possible to attend games on a regular basis and inspire a strong, lifetime relationship with their local team.

Rovers Down South have been funding free ticket schemes for young fans since 2008 and are excited to see its continued growth.”

Speaking on behalf of Raith Rovers Community Foundation, Paul Wilson, General Manager, expressed his enthusiasm for the collaboration and the potential impact of “The Community Belong” project. He stated, “We are thrilled to be working together with Rovers Down South and Raith Rovers Football Club on ‘The Community Belong.’ This initiative represents the power of unity and how the love for football can bring diverse groups together for a common cause. We believe that access to football matches and the support of our volunteers will not only enrich the lives of vulnerable families but also inspire and nurture the potential of our young people in our community.”

Andrew Barrowman, Raith Rovers FC CEO, commented, “We are delighted to be part of ‘The Community Belong’ project, working alongside Raith Rovers Community Foundation and Rovers Down South. Football has the power to unite and uplift communities, and we believe this initiative will not only bring joy to vulnerable families but also inspire young individuals to be active members of our community. Together, we are committed to making a positive impact and fostering a more inclusive and supportive society throughout the 2023-24 season and beyond.”

The project will run throughout the 2023-24 season, and all involved parties are eagerly anticipating the positive outcomes it will bring to the community. “The Community Belong” is a testament to the commitment and vision of Raith Rovers Community Foundation, Rovers Down South, and Raith Rovers Football Club to create a more inclusive and supportive society.
