The Roary Club collector card scheme proved extremely popular on Saturday as young fans turned out in record numbers to collect the first set in their collection.  Almost 100 members were at the game to receive the first set in their collection, a new record for a league match. Fans receive a free pack of cards at each home game and just have to attend five games to complete the whole Raith Rovers squad and management team.

Roary Club co-ordinator, Steven Lawther, was delighted with the response. “We had our biggest ever attendance of Roary members on Saturday and it was great to see so many kids picking up their collector cards. We had around 10% more young fans at the game on Saturday than we had at our biggest game last season against Dunfermline, which is fantastic.”

The Roary Club is now only 20 members short of hitting the 600 mark.

“We have had over 580 young supporters joining the Roary Club since it was set up just a few years ago and we are delighted with the progress we have made. The feedback we have received from parents and members has been great and we hope that it is helping encourage a whole new generation of supporters for the future. Already this season we have launched our collectors cards and ran a mascot competition and we hope to announce more exciting events throughout the season. There will definitely be a chance to get collectors cards signed by the players at our signing session later in the season”

Members can pick up their second set of FREE collector cards at the game against Airdrieonians on 23rd September. Any young supporters of primary school age can still sign up to The Roary Club at the Supporters Trust table in the South Stand concourse on match days or by sending their child’s name along with their date of birth & postal address to roaryclub@raithrovers.net.
