Keeper badly injured in ‘bounce’ game

Monday January 9th 2017

Aussie goalkeeper Aaron Lennox has sustained significant injuries this afternoon during a ‘bounce’ game against a Dundee United side at St Andrews. The popular stopper took a boot to the face in a collision with a United player.

Aaron is undergoing surgery this evening to reset a fractured jaw. He will also require dental reconstruction work. As if that was not enough, as a result of the same incident, Aaron has also sustained two broken bones in his hand. Obviously, Aaron will be out of action for some time.

Everyone at Stark’s Park wishes Aaron a full and speedy recovery.

In a match that is still talked about to this day Rovers defeat Hearts at Stark's Park 4-2 on a Tuesday night under the floodlights. It was a match that saw Alex MacDonald sent-off. Willie Johnstone put Hearts ahead in just 7 minutes but Colin Harris levelled for Rovers. Jim Kerr converted a penalty to put Rovers 2-1 up and Jim Marshall made it 3-1. Willie Johnston reduced the deficit from the penalty spot before Colin More made sure of the win ten minutes from time.
