WELCOME DARRAGH O’CONNOR!
Raith Rovers Football Club is delighted to confirm the signing of defender Darragh O’Connor on loan from York City for the remainder of the 2025/26 season.
The 26-year-old stands at 6ft 2in, and will add both strength, experience and depth to Barry Robson’s defensive options.
Born in Croydon, England to Irish parents, Darragh moved to County Wexford, Ireland at a young age.
A product of the Irish youth system, he came through with Cloughbawn, Waterford, Shamrock Rovers and Wexford before earning a move to the English Premier League with Leicester City in 2019.
During his time there, Darragh featured regularly in Premier League 2 and the EFL Trophy for the Foxes’ development squad.
A move to Scotland came in 2021 when he joined Motherwell, and he soon gained valuable first team experience with a loan spell at Queen of the South, making 17 appearances and scoring once in the second half of the 2021/22 season.
In 2022, Darragh signed for Greenock Morton, where he established himself as a reliable presence at the back, racking up 68 appearances across two seasons in the Scottish Championship.
His consistent performances at Cappielow earned him a summer switch in 2024 to National League side York City, before heading back north of the border to Falkirk on loan earlier this year.
Darragh has recently been training with the Rovers squad to build up his fitness, giving Barry Robson and his teammates the chance to get to know him before making the decision to bring him in.
Darragh commented:
“I know Raith Rovers well from my time in the Championship and it was always a team that excited me to watch.
I’ve been training with the boys for a few weeks now and loving every minute.
I now just can’t wait to be involved on a matchday.“
Everyone at Raith Rovers extends a warm welcome to Darragh, and we look forward to seeing him in action in a Rovers shirt for the rest of the season.
