Manager
Dougie Imrie
Dougie was appointed as Manager in November 2025.
Born in Lanark on 3rd August 1983, Douglas carved out a reputation as one of Scotland’s most hard-working and intelligent midfielders, amassing more than 500 senior appearances during a 17-year career.
Dougie began his senior journey with Clyde, quickly becoming a standout performer.
This earned him a move to Inverness Caledonian Thistle in 2008, where he stepped into the Scottish Premier League and proved he could thrive at the highest domestic level.
After an initial spell in the Highlands, he joined Hamilton Academical in 2009, beginning a long and significant association with the Club.
A return to Inverness followed before he signed for St Mirren in 2012, where Dougie enjoyed one of the highlights of his playing career by helping the Paisley side secure the 2013 Scottish League Cup.
In 2014, he returned to Hamilton to begin a four year period in which he became one of the most respected and reliable midfielders in the Scottish Premiership.
Known for his tactical intelligence, relentless work rate and leadership qualities, Dougie played a key role in helping Accies consistently punch above their weight in the top flight.
After retiring from playing in 2018, Dougie transitioned into coaching, starting within Hamilton’s academy structure.
His natural communication skills, attention to detail and ability to develop young players quickly became evident, and he progressed rapidly into First Team coaching responsibilities.
Working under several managerial teams allowed him to gain valuable experience in analysis, recruitment, player development and match preparation, further sharpening his understanding of the modern game.
In late 2021, Greenock Morton appointed Dougie as First Team Manager, marking his first senior managerial role.
He made an immediate impact, transforming Morton into one of the Championship’s most organised, disciplined and fiercely competitive sides.
Operating with modest resources, he earned widespread praise for establishing a clear identity, improving players across the squad and consistently delivering results that exceeded expectations.
Dougie’s approach blends modern analytical preparation with traditional work ethic and high standards, creating teams that are well organised, intense and difficult to play against.
His current contract runs until May 2028.
