Christmas has come early!

We’re delighted to announce that Sam Stanton has signed a two-year extension, extending his current contract to June 2026.

After a hugely impressive last two years at the Club, Ian Murray and the Board of Directors have been determined to get this deal over the line and ensure Sam’s future with us.

Cementing himself as a firm fan favourite, Sam got the crucial last-minute winner at home to Dunfermline Athletic, and has been a stand-out performer in every game this season.

We’re extremely happy to confirm this deal and to have Sam at Raith Rovers for the next two years.

Ian Murray commented, “I’m very happy that Sam has extended his stay with Raith Rovers. He is a player of real quality and he has been a pleasure to work with. I look forward to working with him further.”

Sam signed for Rovers in December 2021 on a two-and-a-half year deal, after leaving Dundalk in the League of Ireland Premier Division.

A midfielder, Sam broke through at Hibernian; progressing through their youth academy system and making his debut at just 17-years-old against Rangers in January 2012.

After over 50 appearances for the Hibees, scoring three goals and spending time on loan at Cowdenbeath, Livingston, Dumbarton and Dundee United, Sam then signed for Dundee United permanently in January 2018.

After over 50 appearance for United, Sam moved to the America to sign for Phoenix Rising FC in January 2020. After a successful season winning the Western Conference and reaching the USL Championship Final (which was cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic), Stanton and the club mutually agreed to part ways in December and signed for Dundalk.

Since playing at Stark’s Park, Sam has made 95 appearances and scored twelve goals.
