Lewis with the December 2023 Player of the Month award

Raith Rovers Football Club are delighted to announce that our striker and longest-serving player Lewis Vaughan has agreed terms on an extension to his contract with the club.

With Lewis’ deal set to end at the end of the current season, and with the club challenging at the top of the cinch SPFL Championship for promotion to the SPFL Premiership for the first time since 1997, the news that the top scorer in the league is committed to staying at the club for another 2 seasons (the new contract for our number 10 will run until June 2026) will be a major boost for the squad in the second half of the current season.

Lewie first signed for the Rovers in January 2012 just after turning 16, making his first team debut at the end of the 2011-12 season and has now played 237 matches for the club. He is now in the Top 20 list of goalscorers of all time for Raith Rovers FC having hit the net 84 times in a Rovers shirt.

This season, Lewis has played in all but 2 matches across all competitions and friendlies.

Speaking about his contract extension, Lewis said: “I’m absolutely delighted to sign my contract extension with the club and I am looking forward to the future with the club, especially seeing what we can achieve as a squad the second half of this season.

I am enjoying playing football again and working with everyone at the club. The support from the fans and the local community this season has been brilliant.

I’m honoured to have been awarded a testimonial season after 12 years with Raith Rovers. With several events having already taken place, I’m really looking forward to my testimonial match later in the year”

Rovers manager Ian Murray added: “It’s great that Lewis has decided to re-sign for the club. He has worked incredibly hard and has shown what a resilient character he is again and again.

Lewis is our top goalscorer and showed great hunger in committing his future to Raith Rovers. He had been a pleasure to work with and we are fortunate to have him”
