Raith Rovers 1  St Mirren 3

Raith Rovers U20 side lost out in a hard-fought contest at Stark’s Park today.  St Mirren were a strong side and dominated play for much of the ninety minutes, although the young Rovers’ side gave a good account of themselves.  St Mirren led 1-0 at half time, their goal coming from a superbly struck 25-yard free kick.

In the second half, the Rovers worked hard to get themselves back in contention but, although they pulled level from a well-struck free kick by Callum Robertson, their lead was short lived when, two minutes later, St Mirren swept up the park and blasted themselves back ahead. They also grabbed a third goal two minutes from time when the Raith players were caught upfield in search of an equaliser, making the final score 3 – 1.   Considering possession and chances created throughout the game, this was not an unfair score line.
