Raith Rovers FC are sad to announce the news that Jim Whyte, former Raith Rovers director, passed away recently.

Jim was a native of Strathmiglo, and started going to see the Rovers play as a schoolboy travelling in the local Raith Rovers’ Supporters Club bus.

He continued to support the team throughout his working life, latterly travelling to matches from his Bathgate home. He became a Raith Rovers director in the late 1990s, and helped establish the club’s youth team. He was a great fundraiser for the club.

He introduced his family to supporting the club and his daughter Lesley was a regular with her brother Graeme. Graeme then signed for the club as a teenager.

He was instrumental in the setting up the very successful Jim McMillan Club, which has gone on to raise over £100,000 for Raith Rovers. He served as the Jim McMillan Club’s Chairman for over three years.

Even when the football may not have been, he was a very engaging and entertaining gentlemen with many a tale of his working life.

He is survived by his wife Anne, sons David and Graeme, and daughters Lesley and Claire. All of us at Raith Rovers pass on our condolences to them at this time.
