We are delighted to confirm that we have this afternoon completed the signing of Leicester City forward Harry Panayiotou (21) on a short term deal until the end of the season.

Harry has been playing regularly for the Barclays Premiership leaders’ Under 21 team where he became their Player of the Year last season and also the Barclays U21 Player of the Month last March following a spell in which he netted 11 goals in 10 games. In addition to one first team appearance for the Foxes, Leicester born Harry has earned 6 caps for Saint Kitts and Nevis scoring 4 goals in the process.

Manager Ray McKinnon is delighted to have captured the promising player’s signature but has been quick to stress that while Harry will certainly improve our options up front, goalscoring is all about the team effort.

Chief Executive Eric Drysdale commented, “Ray is anxious that supporters don’t just expect Harry to come in and start scoring goals for fun. He’s a young player, and still learning. Obviously the FA Premier League Under 21s is a high standard, but competitive first team action will be a step up in terms of intensity and so on. We are looking for the whole team to work hard for each other, and the manager has no doubt that if they continue to do that we will be converting some of the chances we have been creating. Subject to international clearance, it is hoped that Harry will be available in time for Saturday’s home Ladbrokes Championship match against Queen of the South.”
