After two away matches in successive weeks, Raith Rovers return to Stark’s Park this Saturday, as they take on an in-form Arbroath side.

After losing to Ayr United on the opening day, the Red Lichties are unbeaten in their last four games, with wins over Livingston and Morton and draws against Inverness Caledonian Thistle and Dunfermline.

That sequence sees them one place and two points behind Raith Rovers in the table, as the Angus side look to repeat last season’s achievements of challenging for promotion to the top flight.

With neither Stenhousemuir or Partick Thistle playing a league match this weekend due to Stenny’s participation in the League Cup quarter finals, Saturday’s Kirkcaldy encounter is an opportunity for one of the teams to close the gap between themselves and the teams above them.

Rovers don’t have the best recent record against Arbroath though, with no wins in the last three, with Colin Hamilton and David Gold’s side securing wins in the last two.

Their most recent meeting was at Gayfield in April, when a last minute Kai Montagu goal was too little too late, as goals from Jacob McIntyre and Findlay Marshall earned the home side all three points.

Arbroath also came out on top the last time they visited Stark’s Park in January. Gavin Reilly and Dapo Mebude had given the visitors a two goal advantage at the interval, but Scott Brown and Josh Mullin restored parity midway through the second period, only for substitute Scott Robinson to win the game for the visitors in the last 10 minutes.

Rovers last win in this fixture was just under 12 months ago, when goals from Paul Hanlon, Richard Chin and Jack Hamilton secured a comfortable 3-0 win.

If Arbroath do win this one it’ll be the first time either side have won three consecutive games against the other since Rovers achieved the feat back in the 2008/09 campaign, a season which saw Raith pipping Ayr United to the Division Two title.

Saturday’s match referee will be Dan McFarlane.

Head-To-Head Record:

Arbroath wins: 37

Draws: 24
