After kicking off their league campaign with a 1-1 draw against Stenhousemuir at Stark’s Park last weekend, Raith Rovers are heading to Glasgow this Saturday, as they take on Queen’s Park at The City Stadium.. 

The Spiders started their season with a 2-0 loss to Livingston last week, with a Robbie Muirhead double ensuring the points stayed in West Lothian. . 

Like Raith, Queen’s failed to qualify from their League Cup group section, although only by the narrowest of margins, with three wins and a goal difference of plus five meaning they lost out as one of the best runners up by a single goal. 

Wins over Brora Rangers, Kelty Hearts and Queen of the South weren’t quite enough to get them over the line, with a narrow 2-1 defeat to Aberdeen at Pittodrie denying them a route to the knockout stages. 

Sean Crighton’s side already had a number of former Rovers players on their books, with Aidan Connolly, Euan Murray and Callum Smith all in their squad, and they added to that number over the summer, with Jack Hamilton joining the club after departing Rovers at the end of last season. 

The forward will be hoping to add to his two goals he scored in the League Cup, but Rovers had a decent record in these fixtures last season, coming out on top in three of the five meetings. 

Hamilton helped himself to a hat-trick in Rovers 4-1 win back in January, and they also won on penalties in a Challenge Cup quarter final tie just three days later. 

Their last meeting was at Lesser Hampden in April, when a brace from Lewis Vaughan sealed a 2-0 away win for Raith. 

Saturday’s match referee will be Jamie Wilkie.
