Match Preview

Raith Rovers head to Hampden on Friday evening to face Queen’s Park, looking to build on the momentum of last weekend’s fine 2-0 win over Dunfermline in the Fife derby.

Callum Davidson’s side have been erratic at home this season, with only three sides picking up fewer points from their home matches in the Championship this term, but Rovers are still without a league win on their travels this campaign, picking up just one point from a possible 21.

Queen’s currently sit fifth in the table, a point behind the playoff places after Saturday’s 2-1 loss to Hamilton meant they failed to take advantage of fourth placed Partick Thistle’s loss to Livingston on the Friday evening.

Ex-Rovers loanee Zak Rudden had brought Queen’s level from the penalty spot in the 16th minute after Steven Bradley had opened the scoring after 3 minutes, but a further goal from Bradley before half time made it three defeats in four league games for Davidson’s side.

The points were shared the last time the two sides met in October. Jack Hamilton’s penalty gave Rovers the lead in the 39th minute, but Liam McLeish’s equaliser in the 62nd minute ended the scoring.

It meant Rovers had now went three games without a win in this fixture, with their last victory against Friday’s opponents that extraordinary 3-2 win at Hampden in November last year, when Ross Millen’s injury time penalty capped a breath-taking comeback.

Friday evening’s match referee will be Grant Irvine.

Head-To-Head Record:

Queen’s Park wins: 36

Raith Rovers wins: 53

Draws: 28
