Match Preview:

After a long trek in midweek, Raith are on their travels again at the weekend, when they head south to take on Stranraer.

The Stair Park side currently sit eighth in the League One table, after a 1-0 defeat to Forfar last weekend and a 2-2 draw with Montrose on the opening day of the season.

Defeat to the Rangers development squad in midweek meant it was now five games without a win for Steve Farrell’s side, with their last win in 90 minutes coming against Berwick Rangers in the League Cup although they did defeat Ayr United on penalties in the same competition.

Rovers, on the other hand, made it three wins in three with a victory over a Ross County select in the Challenge Cup, although they were made to work for it, after being pegged back following Lewis Allan’s brace in the first-half, with Ross Matthews winner coming in the last minute.

Rovers prize for that win is a home draw against Falkirk in the next round.

Raith found Stranraer a tough nut to crack last season, winning just one of the four games against the Blues, a 2-1 win at Stark’s Park in October, with both goals coming from Kevin Nisbet. The other fixtures saw Rovers lose once and draw twice, however, Rovers do have a good record at Stair Park, with five wins and two draws from their last eight visits in the league.

Rovers enjoy the upper hand in general his fixture, with six wins and two draws from the last 10 meetings.

Saturday’s match referee will be Greg Aitken.
