William Hill Championship
St Johnstone vs Raith Rovers
Friday, 24th April 2026
7:45pm
McDiarmid Park, Perth
It’s Raith Rovers final away league game of the season this Friday evening, and it’s at the home of the Championship title winners, as Dougie Imrie’s side travel to Perth to face St Johnstone.
Simo Valakari’s men wrapped up the title on Tuesday evening with a 2-0 win over Dunfermline at East End Park, sparking scenes of celebration in the stands and on the pitch.
The Saints have been top of the league since the opening day of the season, bouncing back to the top flight in impressive fashion and at the first time of asking. .
Raith Rovers chances of reaching the top four received a blow last weekend after going down two one to Arbroath at Gayfield, and while they can still finish fourth by winning on Friday and against Ross County the next weekend, they’re also reliant on Dunfermline losing their last two fixtures.
For that to be the case, Rovers will have to do something they haven’t so far managed this season, and score a league goal against St Johnstone.
Goals from Adama Sidibeh and Josh McPake sealed a 2-0 win for St Johnstone at Stark’s Park in September, while the two meetings since have both ended goalless.
Rovers did find the net through Jack Hamilton in the teams first meeting in the League Cup group section in July, but the McDiarmid Park side ran out 3-1 winners.
Raith have now went 11 games and 22 years without a win over Friday night’s opponents, with their last victory coming in 2004, with a John Martin effort the only goal of the game.
You have to go back a little further for Rovers last win at McDiarmid Park, when a goal from Antonio Calderon sealed a 1-0 win back in September 2003.
Friday night’s match referee will be Duncan Nicolson.
