Raith Rovers

Ibrox, Glasgow

Saturday 18th October 2014

Kick off: 3.00pm

Match Preview:

Raith Rovers will attempt to sustain their unbeaten away league record at Ibrox this weekend, but it won’t be easy, at a venue where they haven’t won a league game since 1959.

Rovers head into the game against Ally McCoist’s Rangers on the back of a last-gasp defeat against Queen of the South, who triumphed 4-3 at Stark’s Park last Friday. The result saw the two teams trade places in the league, with Raith now residing in fourth place, although a win on Saturday, would see them move above the Govan side.

The two teams met just over four weeks ago, in a match where Rangers ran out clear and deserved winners. Nicky Clark opened the scoring after quarter-of-an-hour, then Ian Black and Nicky Law put the game out of sight before half-time, with two goals in a matter of seconds. Lee McCulloch completed the scoring with a penalty after 73 minutes.

The match was arguably Rangers best performance of the season, and they’re a team that seems to enjoy playing on their travels, as their last away defeat in the league came over two years ago, when Stirling Albion defeated them 1-0 back in October 2012.

Raith will be hoping to take advantage of the fact that their hosts on Saturday have enjoyed less success at home however, with two defeats at Ibrox already this term.

Perhaps unsurprisingly, Rangers have a dominant record in the most recent league meetings, with eight wins, while Raith have managed just two draws from the last ten league meetings.

Saturday’s match referee will be Don Robertson
