Match Preview

With the League Cup group stage now complete, the 2025/26 league campaign kicks off this weekend, as Raith Rovers welcome Queen’s Park to Stark’s Park in the season’s opener.

The Spiders are under new stewardship this season, with former coach Sean Crighton stepping up to fill the vacancy created by the dismissal of Callum Davidson last season, after a disappointing second half of the league campaign.

Two of Crighton’s first signings will need no introduction to Rovers fans, with former players Aidan Connolly and Euan Murray heading to Lesser Hampden following their departure from Kirkcaldy.

The Glasgow side also made a triple raid on Dumbarton, bringing in full backs Matty Shiels and Carlo Pignatiello, as well as highly rated forward Mikey Ruth.

It’s another new addition who has created the most amount of interest so far though, with Josh Fowler, a player who has played for St Cadocs, Beith Juniors, Gulf United and Dubai City, scoring five goals in four League Cup games in the.

Queen’s had a similar cup campaign as Rovers, with two wins and two defeats, registering wins against Brechin City and Cove Rangers, but losing to Spartans and Falkirk, leaving them third in the group table.

Rovers had a decent record against Queen’s Park last season, with two wins and a draw from four games, although they did have difficulties against them at Stark’s Park, with Rovers victories both coming at Hampden.

Indeed, their last league game came against Queen’s Park on the final day of last season, but despite a thumping 5-1 win it wasn’t quite enough to get Raith into the playoffs.

Saturday’s match referee will be Duncan Nicolson.

Head-to-Head Record:

Raith Rovers wins: 55

Queen’s Park wins: 37

Draws: 28
