Match Preview

It’s the final league game of the 2024/25 campaign this Friday evening, and it’s all to play for, as Raith Rovers head to Hampden to face Queen’s Park.

Barry Robson’s side can still qualify for the top four positions and the Premiership playoffs, but need a win in this one and then hope Partick Thistle lose at title chasing Livingston.

If Partick Thistle manage a point in West Lothian, then Rovers would have to win by four clear goals against the Spiders to finish fourth on goals scored.

Queen’s Park on the other hand have secured safety in the second tier for another season, although they could overhaul Dunfermline who are directly above them in seventh in the table, and take with it an increase in prize money.

Raith do have a decent away record against the Spiders. They’re currently on a five game unbeaten run and have lost just once in 13 away meetings with Queen’s, with their only defeat in that spell coming in a 1-0 loss at Ochilview in 2022.

Their results in this fixture overall have been a mixed bag this season though.

The first match in October finished 1-1, with Jack Hamilton’s first half penalty cancelled out by a fine strike from Liam McLeish in the second period.

Rovers did get all three points at the national stadium just before Christmas though, with Lewis Jamieson and Aidan Connolly the Rovers scorers in a 2-1 win.

It was a completely different story the last time the two sides came together in Kirkcaldy in March though, on an afternoon where nothing went right for the home side, as Callum Davidson’s men produced a 4-0 hammering.

Friday evening’s match referee is Ryan Lee.

Head-to-Head Record:

Queen’s Park Wins: 37

Raith Rovers Wins: 54

Draws: 28
