Match Preview
After the midweek defeat in Lanarkshire on Tuesday evening, Raith Rovers are back at Stark’s Park this Saturday for the visit of Queen’s Park.
This will be the 100th league meeting between the clubs, with the two first locking horns 115 years ago, with Queen’s Park running out 2-1 winners in a First Division encounter.
Callum Davidson’s side go into this one on the back of a 0-0 draw with Dunfermline at East End Park last weekend, a result which sees them seventh in the Championship table, six points above the relegation zone, and three points behind fifth placed Raith.
That goalless draw with the Pars means it’s now five league games without a win for Queen’s, a sequence which has seen them slide down the table after spending much of the campaign jostling for one of the promotion playoff spots.
It’s been a different story in the Scottish Cup however, where just a couple of weeks ago, the Hampden side pulled off one of the biggest Scottish Cup upsets of all time, when Seb Drozd’s goal and Callum Ferrie’s injury time penalty save handed Queen’s Park a historic 1-0 win over Rangers, making them the first team from a division lower than Rangers to bundle them out the Scottish Cup at Ibrox.
Rovers have a good recent record against Queen’s, with just one defeat in the last nine meetings, with a win and a draw from the two previous matches this season.
Jack Hamilton fired Rovers in front when the two sides last met at Stark’s Park in October, but a second half equaliser from Liam McLeish meant the sides shared the points.
Rovers did come out on top at Hampden just before Christmas though, with Lewis Jamieson and Aidan Connolly giving the visitors a two goal cushion, before Ryan Duncan’s goal with 15 minutes left made for a nervy end to the game for the fans in the away end.
Saturday’s match referee will be Dan McFarlane.
Head-to-Head Record:

Queen’s Park wins: 36
