Match Preview:

Queen of the South are the visitors to Stark’s Park on Tuesday evening, in what will be Raith Rovers penultimate home game of the season.

Both of these teams go into the match on the back of disappointing results from the weekend. Raith went down by 3 goals to 1, against a Dumbarton side, who capitalised on Queens’ home defeat to Falkirk, by moving level on points with the Dumfries side, who currently sit fourth in the table on goal difference.

Raith have already beaten Queen of the South twice this season, although Jim McIntyre’s men won the last encounter between the two at Palmerston Park, back in January. A Greig Spence penalty sealed a 1-0 Rovers victory in the first encounter in September, while a double from Calum Elliot allowed Raith to win 2-1 the last time the teams met each other at Stark’s Park in November.

A win for the home side on Tuesday, would lift Rovers 9 points clear of Cowdenbeath with just 3 games to play, while a win for the visitors, would see them move 3 points above Dumbarton in the race for the last promotion play-off place.

The recent head-to-head record couldn’t be tighter, with both teams winning 5 out of the last 10 league games.

Tuesday night’s referee will be Greg Aitken.
