Match Preview
Raith Rovers will be looking to make it three wins in succession this Saturday, when they travel to Firhill to take on in-form Partick Thistle.
Friday evening’s 2-0 win over Ayr United was the first time Raith have won two league games in a row without conceding a goal since recording back to back wins over Dunfermline and Partick Thistle in March.
However, they’ll face a hard task to make it three wins on the spin this weekend, as they come up against a Jags side that appear to be hitting their stride after a slow start to their campaign.
Their 1-0 win over ninth placed Dunfermline on Saturday made it five games without defeat for Kris Doolan’s men who now sit in the promotion playoff places, although a win on Saturday would lift Rovers to within two points of the Maryhill men.
The sides have already met once this term, with Rovers winning 1-0 thanks to a Dylan Easton penalty after 27 minutes.
Rovers can also take heart from their fine recent record at Firhill, with their three visits last season yielding two wins and a draw, while their only defeat to Thistle in their last eight meetings was a 2-1 loss in the playoff semi final second leg in May, a tie which Raith went on to win on penalties.
Saturday’s match referee will be Steven McLean.
Head-to-Head Record:
Partick Thistle wins: 70
Raith Rovers wins: 56
Draws: 41
