Match Preview

After three games on the road, Raith Rovers return to Stark’s Park this weekend, where they face off against Partick Thistle.

The Maryhill side had been in excellent form until very recently, but three straight defeats has seen them eliminated from the League Cup and knocked off the top spot of the Championship, while conceding 12 goals in the process.

Their latest defeat came at Somerset Park in midweek, where Ayr United eventually came out on top after a ding – dong affair by four goals to two, a result which temporarily at least, saw the Honest Men go top of the table.

Rovers on the other hand go into this one on the back of a one all draw at Inverness. Sam Stanton had given Rovers an early lead, only for Robbie Deas to equalise before half time.

The league could barely be tighter, and going into this weekend’s fixtures, Raith may sit seventh, but are only five points off the summit of the table.

This Saturday’s encounter could see Lewis Vaughan available for selection for the first time since July 2021, with the forward coming through a bounce game against Alloa in midweek, and getting on the scoresheet.

These two sides last met in August, with Thistle running out 2-1 winners.

Scott Tiffoney had given the home side an early lead, and when Steven Lawless doubled the advantage, it looked like it may be a long afternoon for Raith.

However, they immediately hit back through Ethan Ross, and despite a spirited second half display, they couldn’t find an equaliser.

Saturday’s match referee will be Gavin Duncan.
