Raith Rovers return to league action this weekend, with Partick Thistle the visitors to Stark’s Park.
Both sides go into this one on the back of heavy defeats last time out, with Raith losing out to Celtic in the Scottish Cup, while Partick Thistle lost 5-2 to Falkirk.
Kris Doolan’s side had been leading 2-1 as the interval approached, but a red card for their captain and talisman Brian Graham gave them an uphill struggle that they were unable to overcome, with the Bairns eventually running out comfortable winners.
Despite that result, Thistle still sit in the final playoff position in the Championship, with a seven point gap between themselves and fifth placed Queen’s Park, although the Spiders have played one game fewer.
Because of his dismissal last week, Thistle will have to do without their top goal scorer Brian Graham, who has 15 goals in all competitions this season.
He scored in the last meeting between the two sides in November, giving the Maryhill men an early lead, before a sensational free kick from Dylan Easton earned Rovers a deserved share of the points.
The last time the two sides met at Stark’s Park was in August, and again Easton was on target for Rovers, converting a penalty for the only goal of the game.
Rovers are now unbeaten in seven league games against the Jags, albeit Thistle did win the second leg of the playoff semi-final at Stark’s Park last season before Raith triumphed in dramatic circumstances on penalties.
Saturday’s match referee will be Lloyd Wilson.
