Match Preview:

Raith Rovers welcome Morton to Stark’s Park this week, as their focus returns to the Championship, after their exit from the Scottish Cup at the hands of St Johnstone last weekend.

It’ll be Raith’s fifth home match in a month, although they’ve had few home comforts recently, with the last victory at Stark’s Park coming in December against Dumbarton.

Raith were the victors the last time Morton visited Stark’s Park in October, when a last-minute Gordon Smith goal gave Grant Murray’s men all three points, after Kevin Moon had opened the scoring. Ex-Raith striker Nacho Novo had levelled for Morton with twenty minutes remaining.

The other two encounters this season have finished all-square, with a 1-1 draw at Cappielow during the opening month of the season, and a 0-0 stalemate at the same venue in January.

The results in the current campaign are reflective of the recent head-to-head record between the two teams, with Rovers winning four of the previous ten league games, compared to Morton’s two.

Rovers biggest home win against the Greenock club came in March 1935, with Raith running out 6-0 winners. Morton’s biggest victory at Stark’s Park was much more recent however, a 4-0 Challenge cup win in August 2000.
