Match Preview
Raith Rovers head to Livingston this Wednesday evening, in a match moved forward due to David Martindale’s side’s involvement in the Scottish Cup quarter final this weekend.
The Livi Lions are in fine fettle just now, unbeaten in 10 games, with their last defeat coming at the start of the year against Queen’s Park.
They go into this one on the back of a 1-1 draw in Maryhill against Partick Thistle, a result which kept them second in the table, sandwiched between Falkirk and Ayr United in what appears to be an exciting three way Championship title fight.
This will be the fourth and final league meeting between the sides this season, and while every game has been tight so far, Livingston have taken six points to Rovers three.
Rovers were probably the better side when the two sides met at Stark’s Park in August, only for the visitors to pull off a 1-0 win thanks to an injury time goal from Jamie Brandon.
Rovers impressed again when they visited Almondvale in October, and took an early lead thanks to Jack Hamilton.
However, Liam Dick’s red card early in the second half made life more difficult for Rovers, and with 15 minutes remaining, Danny Wilson equalised for the home side. Despite looking like they’d done enough to earn a point, it was last minute agony for Rovers again, as Michael Nottingham’s goal five minutes into injury time again left Rovers empty handed.
Raith at last got a win against the West Lothian side in December though, with goals from Dylan Easton and Aidan Connolly giving Rovers a two goal lead after less than half an hour. Stevie May’s penalty did reduce the arrears midway through the second half, but Raith held on for a vital three points.
That result arrested a poor record for Rovers in this fixture, after losing their six previous games against the same opponents over a period of five years.
Wednesday evening’s match referee will be Calum Scott.
Head-to-Head Record:
