Match Preview
Raith Rovers final match of 2024 takes place this Saturday, with Livingston the visitors to Stark’s Park.
Rovers will be looking to make it three league wins in a row for the first time in over a year, when they put together an exceptional run of five straight Championship victories across November and December.
Their most recent win over Queen’s Park lifted them to within four points of the fifth placed Spiders having played a game fewer, and the 2-1 win also marked Neill Collins last game in charge of the club, as he left to join Californian side Sacramento Republic in the USLC.
Saturday’s visitors come into this one on the back of a disappointing 1-0 loss to Ayr United, a result which saw them slip five points behind leaders Falkirk, with the Honest Men now just two points further behind.
If Rovers are to stretch their good run, they’ll need to turn around their fortunes against Livingston, which has seen them play well in both previous games, only to lose both in the dying seconds.
The first meeting in Kirkcaldy appeared to be heading for a nil nil draw, only for Jamie Brandon to rifle in the winner in injury time.
Rovers did take the lead through Jack Hamilton in the return match in October, but an equaliser from Danny Wilson with 15 minutes remaining was followed up by a winner from Michael Nottingham in the fifth minute of injury time to secure all three points for David Martindale’s team.
That result means Raith have now lost six games in a row against Livi, with four of those defeats seeing Rovers pegged back after taking the lead.
It’s been almost 10 years since Rovers last tasted victory in this fixture, with Aidan Connolly’s only goal enough to win all three points back in May 2015.
Saturday’s match referee will be Euan Anderson.
Head-to-Head Record:
