Match Preview

Football returns to Kirkcaldy this Saturday, as Raith Rovers welcome Livingston to Stark’s Park for the first time since 2016.

David Martindale’s side were relegated from the Premiership last season but have made a steady start to their return to the Championship, sitting unbeaten after three games.

An opening day victory over Dunfermline Athletic was followed up by draws against Queen’s Park and Morton, leaving them third in the table behind early pacesetters Ayr United and Falkirk.

The West Lothian side’s relegation was the signal for a large turnover of the playing squad over the summer, with Stevie May being the latest new arrival to the club.

Only inspired goalkeeping from Morton’s Gary Woods prevented May from grabbing a goal on his debut, and he and fellow forward Teti Yengi already look like they could form a productive partnership in the final third.

The two clubs met just last season in the Scottish Cup, the fourth time the sides had met in a cup competition in four years, and despite a strong start from Rovers, it was the Livi Lions who reached the next round.

Jack Hamilton gave Rovers a fifth minute lead, but a first half equaliser from Jamie Brandon was followed up with a late winner from Daniel McKay to complete the comeback.

The last time the two sides met at Stark’s Park was back in February 2016, when goals from Mark Stewart and Aidan Connolly sealed a 2-0 win for the home side.

Livingston just have the edge in terms of the most recent head-to-head record, with five wins to Raith’s four from the last 10 meetings.

Saturday’s match referee will be Colin Steven

Head-To-Head Record:
