KDM Evolution Trophy Final
Raith Rovers vs Inverness Caledonian Thistle
Sunday, 5th April 2026
4:10pm
Wyre Stadium at Firhill

It’s cup final weekend this Sunday, as Raith Rovers take on Inverness Caledonian Thistle at Firhill with the winners lifting the KDM Evolution Trophy.

Raith will be going for their third outright win in the competition, having lifted it for the first time in 2014 when a John Baird goal sealed a famous 1-0 win over Rangers.

They won it again in 2022, when a brace from Matej Poplatnik and a goal from Ethan Ross saw off the challenge of Queen of the South in the final at Airdrie.

Inverness will also be hoping to lift the trophy for the third time, having defeated Airdrie back in 2003, with their second victory coming in 2018 with a 1-0 victory over Dumbarton.

The clubs both have the quirk of sharing the trophy back in 2020, when they reached the final of a competition was never completed due to the covid outbreak.

Both teams have also fallen at the final hurdle in this tournament, with Rovers losing out to Airdrie in 2023, while the Caley Jags lost out to Alloa in 1999 and to Dundee in 2009.

Inverness have had a far longer journey to this final than Rovers, having played six group games before Raith had even entered. They made easy work of it though, winning all six games and scoring 26 goals in the process.

Their goalscoring prowess continued into the first knockout round, where they put nine past Dumbarton, before dispensing with Partick Thistle in the last 16 on penalties, Stenhousemuir in the quarter finals and another Championship side in Ayr United in the last four.

This will be the third side from League One that Rovers have faced in this cup campaign, having defeated Hamilton and Queen of the South in the first two knockout rounds.

They then played two Championship teams in the last eight and semi final, defeating Queen’s Park and Airdrie both on penalties after one all draws.

The two sides have already met this season, in July in the League Cup group stages, with Rovers running out 5-1 winners, thanks to a Dylan Easton hat-trick a goal from Jack Hamilton, with a Remi Savage own-goal completing the scoring.

Sunday afternoon’s match referee will be Ryan Lee.
