Match Preview:

Raith Rovers will be visiting the capital this Christmas Eve, as they head to face Hibernian at Easter Road, a fixture which has a 1pm kick-off time.

It’ll be the second time Raith have faced up to Neil Lennon’s team this season, after a 0-0 draw with the league leaders at Stark’s Park back in October.

Both teams will be looking to build on decent points at the weekend, with Raith drawing 0-0 with Dundee United, while the Leith side drew 1-1 at Morton, a result which lifted them back to the summit of the table, after the stalemate at Stark’s Park had temporarily lifted Ray McKinnon’s team above Hibernian in the title race.

That last meeting in October was a fairly low key affair, with Hibs going down to ten men in the first-half, when Marvin Bartley received his marching orders for a challenge on Bobby Barr.

Rovers failed to capitalise though, and even though Hibs were the better side, neither goalkeeper had much to do in what turned out to be a tepid contest.

While Hibs have a strog home record this term, Rovers have the third best away record in the league, with just the top two picking up more points on their travels this term.

It’s over 21 years since Rovers last won a league game at the venue however, a 2-1 victory back in December 1995, although they did manage to secure two 1-1 draws at Easter Road in the 2014/15 campaign.

They also pulled off a 3-2 Scottish Cup win at Easter Road in the 2013/14 campaign, when goals from Kevin Moon, Dougie Hill and Grant Anderson secured the surprise triumph.

The clubs last ten league and play-off meetings have produced five wins for Hibernian, three for Raith Rovers and two draws.

Saturday’s match referee will be Greg Aitken.
