Match Preview
Raith Rovers will be looking to put Saturday’s poor showing against Morton behind them this weekend, when they travel to Lanarkshire to face Hamilton Academical.
John Rankin’s men had made a strong start to their return to the Championship after promotion from League One last season, but a 5-1 loss to Partick Thistle last weekend saw them leapfrogged in the table by Raith, despite Neill Collins side losing out by the odd goal in five to Morton.
That left both teams locked together on 15 points, eight behind the promotion playoff spots, and just three ahead of ninth placed Dunfermline.
This will be the sides third meeting this season, with both previous games finishing a draw.
Sean McGinty put Accies ahead in the League Cup section in July, but a Lee Kilday own goal meant the game went to a penalty shoot out, with Raith emerging with a bonus point victory.
The next match up was also at Stark’s Park in September, and despite Rovers holding a deserved 3-1 lead late in the game, thanks to goals from Lewis Stevenson, Finlay Pollock and Dylan Easton, the game ended all square, with Oli Shaw’s injury time equaliser snatching a point for John Rankin’s men.
Saturday’s match referee will be Duncan Nicolson.
Head-to-Head Record:
