Match Preview
Raith Rovers are back on the road again this weekend, as they head to Greenock on Sunday to face an in-form Morton side.
With freezing temperatures forecast in the area until the Saturday evening, the game was moved by a day to give it the best possible chance of going ahead.
Dougie Imrie’s men haven’t tasted defeat in the Championship since a 6-0 hammering at Falkirk at the start of November, a sequence which sees them seventh in the table, a point behind Raith who reside in sixth.
While Rovers were losing to Ayr United last weekend, Morton had the Saturday off due to the cancellation of their fixture against Hamilton.
However, they did win last time out on Hogmanay in their rearranged fixture with Partick Thistle, with Cameron Blues injury time goal sealing all three points for The Ton.
Rovers most recent record against Morton sees them with no wins in their last four attempts, and while the last two fixtures of last season ended in 0-0 stalemates, the two matches this season have seen Raith lose both.
It was a fairly straightforward 2-0 win for the home side the last two met at Cappielow in October, but it was a see-saw affair at Stark’s Park in November.
A double from Filip Stuparevic had given Morton a 2-0 lead at the break, but an own goal from Zak Delaney and an equaliser from the penalty spot gave Rovers the impetus heading into the final 10 minutes.
However, an injury time winner from Michael Garrity meant that Rovers ended the game empty handed.
Sunday’s match referee will be Lloyd Wilson.
Head-to-Head Record:
Morton wins: 69
Raith Rovers wins: 59
Draws: 39
