Match Preview

This Saturday sees Raith Rovers and Dunfermline Athletic lock horns for the third time this season, with the two sides going into this one on the back of contrasting fortunes.

Barry Robson’s side swept Hamilton Accies away on Tuesday evening by three goals to nil, in a fine performance which featured goals from Finlay Pollock, Jamie Gullan and Aiden Marsh before the interval.

Dunfermline on the other hand were on the receiving end of a surprising 3-0 loss to Airdrieonians, the worst possible start to new manager Michael Tidser’s tenure, as the Diamonds picked up their first league win since defeating Rovers on the opening day of the campaign.

Those results meant Robson’s side nipped ahead of Morton and into sixth in the table, still eight points off a playoff spot, albeit having played a game fewer than fourth placed Partick Thistle.

The Pars on the other hand are still in the relegation playoff position, although they are only two points behind eighth place Hamilton.

It’s been a win apiece so far in the Fife derbies, with Dunfermline coming out on top in the first back at East End Park in September.

Euan Murray’s early red card meant Rovers were up against it, and second half goals from Ewan Otoo and David Wotherspoon ensured the home side secured all three points.

It was Rovers who enjoyed a 2-0 win in the return fixture in December though, with a first half Dylan Easton strike giving Raith the lead at the interval, before Korede David sealed a deserved victory with just over quarter of an hour remaining.

Saturday’s match referee will be Grant Irvine

Head-To-Head Record:

Dunfermline wins: 53

Raith Rovers wins: 49
