Falkirk

Raith Rovers

Saturday 27th December

Falkirk Stadium

Kick off 5.30pm

Match Preview:
Raith Rovers head to The Falkirk Stadium this weekend for their final match of 2014, and they’ll be hoping for their first win at the venue, since goals from Allan Walker and Pat Clarke, fired them to a 2-0 victory in August 2012.
That will be a onerous task however, with Peter Houston’s side in fine fettle, after four consecutive league wins. That sequence, which has also included three consecutive clean sheets, has nudged Falkirk up the Championship table, and they now sit in fifth place, just two points behind Queen of the South, who reside in the final play-off place.
Both Raith and Falkirk will need to be more successful in front of goal than they were the last time they met, although neither side will be disappointed if they can keep it as tight at the back in that 0-0 draw at Stark’s Park, at the tail-end of September.
Since that day, Falkirk have lost only three times, to the teams who currently sit first, second and third in the table, and like Raith, they’ve also progressed to the Fifth Round of the Scottish Cup, after eliminating Cowdenbeath last month.
The recent head-to-head record suggests that this could potentially be a tight affair, with both teams on three wins and four draws apiece, from their last ten meetings.
Depending on results elsewhere, a win for Raith Rovers could see them jump one position to sixth, while a win for Falkirk, could see them end the year in the play-off positions.
Saturday’s match referee will be Andrew Dallas.
