Match Preview

Raith Rovers will be hoping to make it two wins in two against Falkirk in just a week, as John McGlynn’s side head to Stark’s Park for our latest Championship fixture on Saturday afternoon.

Rovers knocked the same opponents out of the Scottish Cup in a thrilling fourth round tie last weekend, despite going a goal down with just 11 minutes remaining through Calumn Morrison.

However, an equaliser from Sam Stanton with four minutes left took the game to extra time, where Dylan Easton’s penalty was enough to take Rovers into the next round where they’ll face Celtic.

It was Rovers second win against Falkirk this term, with the Bairns also losing out to a penalty, on that occasion scored by Jack Hamilton in a 1-0 win.

It was a different story at the Falkirk Stadium in December though, with the home side worthy winners in a 3-0 victory.

Sunday’s result means that Falkirk are now on a run of one win in five games, and their lead has been whittled down to just two points ahead of Ayr, who’ll be hoping Rovers can do them a favour as they look to go top if they can win against Partick Thistle at the weekend.

Sunday’s cup win means Rovers have now only just once to Falkirk in their last eight meetings, with Falkirk without a win at Stark’s Park since a 4-1 win back in 2017.

Rovers are currently 11 points away from a top four spot, albeit they do have two games in hand over the bulk of the teams above them.

This is the start of a busy period for the side, with Rovers on their travels again after this one, with trips to Hamilton on Tuesday followed by the Fife derby next Saturday afternoon.

Saturday’s match referee will be Calum Scott.

Head-to-Head Record:

Raith Rovers wins: 59

Falkirk wins: 84

Draws: 43
