Match Preview

After a hiatus last weekend due to the cancellation of the match at Cappielow against Morton, Raith Rovers are back in action this Sunday as they head to Falkirk for a Scottish Cup fourth round tie.

John McGlynn’s men currently top of the Championship, but a run of just one win from their last four league matches has reduced their lead at the top to just two points over Ayr United, albeit the Bairns have a game in hand.

Falkirk have made moves to strengthen at both ends of the park in the January window, with former Morton central defender Darragh O’Connor joining from York City, while one time Scotland cap Eamonn Brophy has joined on loan from Ross County.

The two sides met at the start of December at the same venue and Falkirk run out convincing three nil winners, although it was a different story at Stark’s Park in September, when an early Jack Hamilton penalty won the match for Raith.

This will be the eighth time the sides have met in this competition, and Rovers have only been on the winning side once, albeit it was the last time the two sides met in the Scottish Cup at Falkirk back in November 2021 for a third round tie.

Despite Reghan Tumilty’s red card in the 20th minute, Rovers took the lead just seven minutes later through Ross Matthews. Calumn Morrison drew the scores level again just after the interval, but an Ethan Ross winner with six minutes remaining meant Rovers took their place in the next round.

Saturday’s match referee will be Don Robertson.

Head-To-Head Record:

Falkirk wins: 84

Raith Rovers wins: 58

Draws: 43
