Match Preview

Raith Rovers return to Championship action for the first time in three weeks this Saturday, when they travel to face league leaders Falkirk.

Rovers should have faced Hamilton Accies two weeks ago, only for Storm Bert to put paid to the fixture which has now been rescheduled for the evening of the 21st of January.

However, Neill Collins men go into this fixture on the back of a comfortable 4-0 win over Linlithgow Rose in the third round of the Scottish Cup, thanks to goals from Lewis Gibson, Jack Hamilton and a brace from Dylan Easton.

Falkirk enjoyed their own straightforward cup win on Monday evening, when they defeated East Kilbride 3-1 at K-Park, and the two were then drawn together by former Hearts boss Steven Naismith in the fourth round draw, with the tie scheduled to be played the weekend of January the 18th.

This Saturday will be the second of at least five meetings between the teams this season, with Raith coming out on top in the first meeting at Stark’s Park in September.

In a low key game, Jack Hamilton’s penalty was the only goal of the game, as the home side became the first team to inflict a league defeat on Falkirk in 44 attempts.

That result made it six games unbeaten for Rovers against the Bairns, with Falkirk’s last win coming back in April 2017.

Rovers last trip to the Falkirk stadium was in November 2021, when goals from Ross Matthews and Ethan Ross sealed a 2-1 win for the visitors in the Scottish Cup, despite Rovers spending 70 minutes with just 10 men, after Reghan Tumilty’s early red card.

Saturday’s match referee will be Graham Grainger

Head-To-Head Record:

Falkirk wins: 83

Raith Rovers wins: 58

Draws: 43
