Match Preview
Raith Rovers are back in home action this weekend, as they welcome high-flying Falkirk to Stark’s Park this Saturday.
The Bairns have made a sensational start to the season since winning League One last term, winning all five league games to date, and sit second in the table behind Ayr United on goal difference, although they have played two games fewer.
They go into this one on the back of an impressive performance at Celtic Park last weekend, where they lead 2-1 against the home side in their League Cup tie with just 20 minutes remaining, only to eventually lose out in the closing stages by five goals to two.
Falkirk’s extended stay in the third tier means these two sides have only met each other once since 2020, a Scottish Cup third round tie back in November 2011.
Raith Rovers won 2-1 on that occasion, even though they were reduced to 10 men following the dismissal of Reghan Tumilty after just 20 minutes.
Ross Matthews opened the scoring seven minutes later, but a Calumn Morrison equaliser five minutes into the second period suggested Rovers may be in for a difficult afternoon.
However, a late Ethan Ross effort saw Raith snatch the win and seal a place in the fourth round.
Saturday’s match referee will be Matthew MacDermid.
Head-To-Head Record:
