Match Preview
After claiming all three points in a comprehensive 5-1 win over Elgin City at the weekend, Raith Rovers make their home bow for the 2025/26 campaign on Tuesday evening, as they face SPFL newcomers and Lowland League champions East Kilbride for the first time in a competitive fixture.
Mick Kennedy’s side kicked off their Premier Sports Cup campaign with a 3-1 home loss to St Johnstone on Saturday, however, The Oystercatchers led 1-0 at the interval thanks to John Robertson’s strike, only to eventually lose out to an exceptional free-kick from ex-Raith forward Jamie Gullan, as well as goals from Adama Sidibeh and Makenzie Kirk.
Those two results from Group F mean Rovers lead the table on goal difference, and with just the group winners guaranteed of progressing to the knock out stages, they’ll be looking to retain that position with a positive result in this one.
Although Kilby may be about to embark on their debut campaign in League Two, they have a number of experienced players who have performed at a higher level.
Their midfield could be anchored by former Partick Thistle man Mouhamed Niang, while they can also call upon former Dunfermline and Dundee player Lewis Spence, as well as ex-Hamilton midfielder Reegan Mimnaugh.
Rovers will have to be mindful of the prolific ex-St Johnstone and Linfield striker John Robertson, and in Ouzy See they have a striker who has experience of both the SPFL and Love Island, after the former Forfar man entered Casa Amor in 2023.
Tuesday evening’s match referee will be Iain Snedden.
