Match Preview

Raith Rovers and Dunfermline lock horns in the final Fife derby of the season this Friday, with the Pars heading to Stark’s Park for a game live on BBC Scotland.

Raith go into this one after a nine day break after their game against Livingston was moved forward due to David Martindale’s side being involved in the Scottish Cup quarter final, where they lost 1-0 to St Johnstone on Monday evening.

Dunfermline on the other hand were in action last weekend, losing out to Falkirk by a goal to nil, meaning they stay in the relegation playoff spot, although a win in this one would see them leapfrog Hamilton who don’t play until Saturday.

Tuesday’s win for Partick Thistle against Queen’s Park meant that Rovers remained in sixth place in the table, level on points on Morton who are fifth, and a point clear of Queen’s Park who have played a game more.

There’s been a recurring theme with this fixture this term, with the home side taking the spoils in every game so far, with two wins at East End Park for Dunfermline and a win for Raith at Stark’s.

An early Euan Murray red card meant Rovers were up against it in the first encounter in September, and goals from Ewan Otoo and David Wotherspoon sealed a 2-0 win for James McPake’s team.

Rovers reversed that scoreline in December in the return fixture, with Dylan Easton giving Rovers the lead just before the interval, before Korede David sealed the win 16 minutes from time.

It was another two goal winning margin when the sides last met in January, and despite Easton firing Rovers in front from the penalty spot, a second half Chris Kane hat-trick earned Michael Tidser’s side all three points.

Friday night’s match referee will be Ross Hardie.

Head-To-Head Record:

Raith Rovers wins: 49

Dunfermline wins: 54

Draws: 31
