Match Preview
Raith Rovers head to Gayfield this Saturday, to take on an Arbroath side who have impressed since returning to the Championship at the first time of asking.
Last season’s League One champions currently sit third in the table, two points ahead of Ayr and a further one clear of fifth placed Dunfermline.
David Gold and Colin Hamilton’s team have bounced back strongly following the 3-0 loss at Stark’s Park in September, with big wins over the two sides who were in the Premiership last season, St Johnstone and Ross County, although they are without a win in their last two outings following a loss to Morton and a draw with Ayr United.
There was little between the teams in the first half of their earlier encounter at Stark’s Park, but goals in the second half from Paul Hanlon, Richard Chin and Jack Hamilton eventually saw Raith run out comfortable winners.
While Rovers have a good record against the Lichties, losing just once in their 10 previous meetings, they did lose 3-2 on their last trip to Gayfield back in March 2023 despite holding a 2-0 lead with less than half an hour remaining.
Goals can generally be expected in this fixture, with 20 goals scored in the last five meetings between the two.
Saturday’s match referee will be Chris Graham.
Head-to-Head Record:
Arbroath wins: 35
Raith Rovers wins: 51
Draws: 23
