Match Preview:

Raith Rovers play host to Alloa Athletic this Saturday, with both teams determined to put an end to poor runs of form.

For Rovers, last weeks 1-0 defeat at Palmerston to Queen of the South, was their fourth consecutive outing without a goal, while Alloa are still reeling, after manager Paul Hartley resigned, immediately after their 5-1 defeat to Dumbarton last Saturday.

That loss was their fifth match without a win, a run which saw the club slip from fourth to eighth. However, with the Championship table incredibly compact, the Recreation Park side are still only 2 points outside the play-off positions.

As for Rovers, Saturday’s match is an opportunity to win their first game since a 2-1 win over Dumbarton on the 14th of December, and victory could see them clamber back into the top four, with Dumbarton currently above Raith, only on goal difference.

The recent head-to-head record between the pair is fairly tight, with the last ten league meetings producing 5 wins for Raith, and 3 for Alloa. However, Rovers have a fairly impressive home record in this fixture, and Alloa’s last win at Stark’s Park was a 1-0 win in April 2006.

Saturday’s match referee will be Alan Muir.
